Expedition: British Arctic Expedition 1875-76. Leader: George Strong Nares (1831-1915). Original format: Lantern slide. A sledge loaded with pemmican is hauled by expedition members up a steep slope on part of the route between the two sailing ships HMS Alert and HMS Discovery
